Matilda

Matilda is a children’s novel by British author Roald Dahl. It was published in 1988 by Jonathan Cape in London, with illustrations by Quentin Blake. The story is about a young girl named Matilda Wormwood, who is an extraordinarily gifted four-year-old. Despite coming from a family of crude, dishonest, and selfish people, she is very intelligent and loves to read. Matilda uses her intelligence and wit to outsmart her parents, her headmistress Miss Trunchbull, and the other adults in her life. The novel has been adapted into a feature film, a two-part miniseries, a musical, and a stage play.
