Disney Literature Classics-The Importance Of Being Don-Earnest

In the parody of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST,Donald Duck, playing the part of Jack Worthington,is using the pseudonym Don-Ernest when he goes to town in order to avoid his creditors. He falls in love with Daisylin,Scrooge’s niece, who parodies the role of Lady Bracknell in the original play. His friend here is called Algerthry, rather than Algernon, and is played by Fethry Duck. When Algerthry meets Donald’s cousin, Ceciliette,it is love at first sight. The real complications arrive when Ceciliette thinks that Algerth’s real name is Don-Ernest! The parody turns in circles around this misunderstanding, just as in the original, but here a legal change of name ensures that all is well in the end.
